To answer the question that Admiral James Stockdale never got to, I am a software engineer of a certain age in a major metropolitan area. I look around me and see many young men from another country who are employed in jobs in the offices of this city, taking the train in from the surrounding suburbs, while Americans who used to do what these men are doing sit home waiting to get the call for an interview at one of these very same companies.
